Participation in the Paradigm Shift Class requires, well, a paradigm shift. At least for most people. Before you will gain any benefit from the class you must accept (or at least consider the possibility) the two statements below are true.
Our thoughts are recycled information. Every thought we have is actually part of a collective database. All but the most original thoughts are recycled information, and even the most original thoughts are actually quantum leaps of creativity that occur from the same recycled bed of information.
When you "learn" something, what you are really doing is remembering something you already know. You are in reality pulling from that collective database with your subconscious mind. If someone else has learned something, then know with 100% certainty you can too!
Take a moment and watch the video below.
If you've come this far you've probably seen it before but please take a moment to watch it again.
Like the video said, I have been able to play the piano and guitar since I was a child. I taught myself. And you can too! Most people can't because they just don't believe they can. (I'm acutally glad I taught myself when I was a child. Because if I had grown up before I did, I probably would never have known I could.)
My company is going to show you how to play the piano, play the guitar and so much more. So many offers are made on the internet that are just plain scams. I wanted to make sure you actually see some of what you are going to discover.
Now we want you to feel exctied. Get excited becasue you are soon going to learn you how to play the piano, play the guitar and so much more. Keep that excited feeling in your mind throughout this lesson. Now watch the video below.
"The definition of genius is that it acts unconsciously; and those who have produced immortal works, have done so without knowing how or why. The greatest power operates unseen." - William Hazlitt
Never doubt for a moment that you don't have access to this unconscious genius within you.
Okay, let's get started.
Get ready to have some fun! These next few examples are going to show you a lot about your subconscious mind, and probably freak your conscious mind out. These are really cool!
The first few weeks of the Paradigm Shift class actually help you discover your subconscious mind. You will learn how your subconscious mind operates and how to access and control it. This is essential for the rest of the class. It will really make the difference between the impossible becoming simple (or vice versa).
First, you need to become familiar with the term Late Selection. Late selection refers to the fact that all information taken in by our minds (through all the senses) is processed by the subconscious mind first before reaching our conscious mind. You don't need consciousness to learn. (Wow, what did I just say?) The old belief was called Early Selection, in which information passed through the conscious mind before the subconscious mind and all non-essential information was discarded.
IMPORTANT: LATE SELECTION IS HOW OUR MIND OPERATES! Everything MUST go through the subconscious mind first.
On with the fun stuff... The following examples give you some insight into how your mind works.
EXAMPLE ONE: Your conscious mind is terrible at paying attention.
Consider this scenerio. You are walking down the street and a man stops you to ask for directions. As you are in the middle of giving directions two men carrying a door walk inbetween you, completely obstructing your view of the individual. The few seconds you can't see him he switches places with one of the men carrying the door. You are now giving directions to a taller man, wearing different clothes and speaking in a different voice. Would you notice?
This was an actual Harvard study and over half did not even notice the change. This is known as Change Blindness. It shows your conscious mind hardly notices anything that is happening in the world around you, even something so blatently obvious as switching the person you were talking to just a few seconds earlier. It's almost scary isn't it.
Do you want proof? Do you want to see this in action for youself?
Below are links to Flicker Images. You will be shown two consecutive images with one change made in the second image. A blank screen will flash in front of your eyes (like the door above) before you see the second image. Can you find the change in each image? Most spend a considerable amount of time trying to find the change, if they even find it at all. But once you see the change you are dumbfounded at how you could have missed it in the first place.
Your subconscious mind processes 10 million bits of information per second. Your conscious mind only processes 40 bits. Why would you ever rely on your conscious mind over your subconscious mind?
EXAMPLE TWO: Your brain fills in the missing pieces.
The above examples dealt with vision. For this example we will use sound.
We can encounter many situations that distort the sounds we are listening too. Probably one of the most common is when having a conversation. Yet we can still perfectly understand what the person is saying. It is not that we are hearing them perfectly but our brain is substituting in the pieces we are missing. This is known as Phonemic Restoration. We think we are hearing their speach clearly but our brain is actually compensating for what we are not hearing. The brain does however need another sound to convert.
You now hear every word again. It is important to understand the only thing that has been added to the recording is white noise. The originial audio is still chopped up and missing pieces. But your brain is filling in the missing pieces. You are hearing what is not there.
We can even take this a step farther. We can chop the video up into 25 millisecond pieces and then reverse the play of each chopped piece. But your brain will compensate and still let you hear it as it was suppose to be said. Click here to listen to this recording
A similar brain phenomenon is sinewave speech. Your brain can extract meaning from nothing but distorted sounds. You brain has circuits that respond to speech but doesn't turn them on until it recognizes spoken language.
When you first listen to sinewave speech you can barely understand it. You may occassionaly make out a word or two. But when you hear the sinewave speech spoken normally and then go back and listen to the sinewave speech again, it sounds as clear as day to you. You wonder why you couldn't hear it before and you can no longer hear it as the complete jumbled mess of sounds you heard earlier.
Listen to the samples below. First listen to the sinewave speech then after listening to the actual words go back and listen to the sinewave speech again.
Can you now see how your brain compensates depending on the cirumstances? This can be good or bad as we will discover in later lessons.
EXAMPLE THREE: Discover Your Subconscious
Did you know when you intend to do something your subconscious becomes aware of your intention before you are consciously aware of your intention? A part of your brain knows what you are going to do before you do.
In a study at the University of California volunteers were hooked up to an EEG and asked to move any part of their body whenever they felt like it. The amazing discovery was that the volunteers became aware of their intent after the EEG was showing the brain initiated the movement. This shows that many things you think you are in control of are actually under the control of the subconscious.
I know you want to see this in action. We can't hook you up to an EEG but this little experiment will suffice. We will be exploring what is called the ideomotor effect.
You need to make a pendulum. You will need a paper clip and some thread. Attach the thread to the paper clip and dangle it over a cross drawn on a piece of paper. Now start asking yourself "yes" and "no" questions such as "Do I have a car?" or "Do I have a sister?" Tell yourself if the pendulum swings clockwise the answer is "yes" if counter clockwise the answer is "no". The pendulum will actually start swinging in the direction which corresponds to the correct answer.
This effect is also seen with Ouija Boards and there are no ghosts in the room. What is really happening is your subconscious brain fires up motor preparation circuits in anticipation of the answer. You are moving the pendulum but are unaware of it.
Daily you do countless things that you are unaware. If that doesn't make you want to become more aware of your subconscious then what does?
Listen to your subconscious mind.
It's time to start listening to you subconscious mind to see what it is saying.
Your mind has over 50,000 thoughts in a day. To listen to your subconscious you must learn to quiet those 50,000 thoughts.
You begin to do that by relaxing. Find a quiet, comfrotable spot where you will not be disturbed. Before you begin ask your subconscious mind to speak to you. (This may seem strange at first, but bear with us.) Now just relax. Start concentraing on your breathing. In and out. In and out. In and out. Let go of any tension you may feel in your muscles. Just concentrate on your breathing. If you have trouble getting into a relaxed state the relaxing video below may help.
When you are in a relaxed state, and you feel your mind is peaceful, we want to start playing a game. Try and catch your thoughts. A thought will pop into your head. Just pay attention to the thought. Try not to react to it. Just notice it. Notice what you are feeling. Don't try and fight the thought. Just let it be. The thought will eventually fade away. Remember that thought for later.
Continue this with as many thoughts as you like. They will continute to come. You are interacting with your subconscious mind.
After you have finished this exercise. Review the thoughts. Ask yourself what do these thoughts mean to me? What do these thoughts tell me about myself?
Do this exercise daily and you will be surprised how much you learn about the inner workings of your mind.
In later lessons we will discuss methods for changing those thoughts.
Let's go back to the flicker images and try something different. Let's try and view them with our subconscious mind.
Go back to one of the flicker images in which you couldn't find the change.
Get yourself into a relaxed state again.
Now view the flicker image without really concentrating on it.
Picture a giant X covering the flicker image.
Try and look through the image noticing the corners of the image and the center of the X at the same time.
The image will blur, this is what is suppose to happen. You may start to feel a day dream like state.
Stay in this state for a few minutes. See what happens.
SUMMARY
Through your subconscious you have access to a collective data base. There is nothing you can't learn (remember).
Your conscious mind is terrible at processing information. You don't even need your conscious mind to learn (remember).
Your brain supplies missing pieces of information. This can be good or bad.
Your subconscious mind is aware of your intentions before your conscious mind.
You can listen to your subconscious mind if you quiet your conscious mind.
If you take only one thing from the class remember this. There were times when I thought "it" was not meant to happen to me. Then I would discover something small or simple I was over looking (as in the flicker images). Then I felt foolish for thinking it wasn't going to happen and the fix was so simple, right in front of my eyes the whole time. Let us help you find the small things. Check out Akasha Online.
